What is with the evil librarians? First with “Welcome to Night Vale,” and I also recently read Brandon Sanderson’s “Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians,” is this a popular trope that I’ve just failed to notice all these years?
If you're familiar with Sanderson's epic fantasy, then you should know—this ain't that. It's not a bad book by any means. It's just very different from what I normally associate with this author. Clearly aimed at a younger audience, this book also made me feel like Sanderson's goal was to write a book as "Un-Brandon Sanderson" as he could. It does, however, imply a gigantic fantasy world where we will still spend the majority of the narrative almost entirely in one location in that gigantic sandbox. I mean, it is still a Brandon Sanderson book.
